Doctor Strange And The Multiverse Of Madness: A Review

Doctor Strange 2: The Multiverse of Madness was a fun movie! I’d give it a seven though because, though I loved it, it will have the casual movie fan scratching their heads. Mostly because this movie… well, no spoilers here, but if you haven’t watched WandaVision and know what’s going on with that series, you’re going to be wondering what the hell is going on with this movie. Even so, it’s still a great watch even if you are left in the dust. If you’ve ever read comic books for a prolonged period of time, you’ll know why you can easily get lost with the Marvel Cinematic Universe. It is following the same structure and in a decade or two will be so deep into the lore you’ll find yourself buying every collector’s set of the movies you can find just to get caught up with the story line.

We are now 28 movies into the MCU currently released with another 11 coming in the next half decade. That’s a lot of movies to keep track of especially when a good chunk of them are following the lore established with what came before. You’ll need a film bible to keep track of everything. OH! And that’s not EVEN counting the Disney Plus shows which are adding to the lore! That is a lot for the general movie going population to follow!

Doctor Strange 2 follows that lore really closely. As such, if you haven’t been watching the movies since Iron Man in 2007 and the Disney Plus shows over the last few years, you are going to be 100% lost. Yet, you’re still going to have fun with it even so. It might even encourage you to watch all those properties. Who knows.

I remember going to the theater in Richmond KY when X-Men Days of Future Past hit. My wife and I, my son, and my in-laws went to watch it. At the end, there was a stinger for Age of Apocalypse showing Apocalypse and his future horsemen and my mother-in-law was like, ‘Who’s that guy?’ And I’m like, ‘It’s the Apocalypse.’ ‘Right, but who’s that guy?’ ‘It’s the Apocalypse.’ ‘Right, right. The Apocalypse is coming. But WHO IS that guy!?’ I turned to my wife and said, ‘Is your mom fucking with me?’ LOL! And that is just after a FEW movies! Imagine damn near thirty?

Even so, I highly recommend the movie if you’re a MCU fan. A lot has came before and it assumes you’ve already seen it. So, maybe not the best jumping on film, but still fun to watch if you just say, ‘Fuck it’ and let it happen.

I’m loving all of it. I’m a huge MCU fan myself and tend to watch all of the movies. The Eternals was really weak for me, though. Still, had a lot of really good concepts and I’ll watch it a few more times to try and sink my teeth into what it’s trying to set up. I just wish it wasn’t so damn boring.

Anyhow, Doctor Strange 2 is essentially an action horror flick that holds nothing back and goes in hard. Much harder than anything in the MCU from before. The horror aspect is there but tamped down to a degree due to being a MCU movie. However, that having been said, don’t think they’re being polite with some of the crazy things going on. It’s a high octane adventure even at two hours. Though it relies on a lot that has happened before, I think most will be able to understand the stakes of the story at hand even without having seen everything else. All of the actors did a phenomenal job with their characters and the movie itself is fairly intense. It starts out with a huge fight and ends with a crazy WTF moment that will leave a lot wondering what’s going to happen next. There is a good Mid Credit scene after a few minutes when the credits start rolling that will amp up that WTF thought. There is a final end credit scene that doesn’t matter to the MCU overall, but is pretty funny regardless.

All right, that’s my spoiler free review of Doctor Strange In The Multiverse of Madness. Highly recommended for diehard MCU fans. Recommended as a popcorn flick for those not in the know. Now, find a way to watch WandaVision.

Later, folks!

SHAMELESS SELF PROMOTION STARTS!

I would appreciate if you have Kindle or even if you want some paperback goodies if you’d head on over to my page and maybe show me some love there. I mean, if you’ve been reading a while and see something you like, wouldn’t you like to have it in your personal library? I have some cool short stories available for cheap. Also Tales From A Strange Mind that collects my short stories (there’s also a Kindle edition but, for some reason, Amazon wouldn’t let me link them together) , Tales From A Strange Mind II which collects my old novellas, Red Star Sheriff (Which also has a Kindle edition but Amazon, am I right?) my first novel ever released, though, yes, it does have some grammatical errors and drags on for way too long, sigh. But I still love it and I will be writing a follow up sometime within the next few years. I have a collection of my poems called MisAligned: The Heart Waxes Poetic which collects my old poems but not some of my newer ones included those flash fictions! I’ll probably do that in the future as well. And if you love the perfectly inane, why not check out my Star Cloud scripts presented in book form? Star Cloud The Original Scripts. Another one where Amazon was being difficult with me in connecting the Kindle and PB versions. Still, the paperback they let me sale for cheap and it’s well worth a look if I say so myself. Or, if you don’t want to click on individual links (all of which will take you to my author’s page anyway), just click on my author’s page directly by tapping my name: Timothy S Purvis See for yourself what all I’ve published since I began this venture in 2016.

I mean, if you like my work, of course. No pressure. Just trying to find my way in this world without working menial tasks and suffering physical and mental issues as a result. If only I could merely stay home and write. That would be my most epic fantasy brought to life. Well, if you don’t want to do that, you could also donate to my cause down below after all is said and done. It would help. You know, if you liked what you saw and all. Up to you. I don’t have a lot of reviews on my materials because of low sales. I mean, very, very low sales. In the single digits. Right now, I have to rely on Pubby for reviews and those people only read your synopsis and recap it for a five star review. I want honest opinions. Not mean ones, but honest. So, if you ever find yourself buying some of my work, I’d certainly appreciate some feedback. Again, up to you.
